Most whitening products — including over-the-counter strips and in-office dental treatments — rely on peroxide-based chemistry to bleach the surface of your teeth. While they may temporarily brighten enamel, they also weaken the enamel matrix, increasing brittleness, sensitivity, and dependence on ongoing whitening.
